Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy utilises essential oils extracted from plants to promote healing. Each essential oil has its own unique fragrance and healing property. By far the most enjoyable and beneficial way of using essential oils is through massage. During a massage the highly potent oils penetrate the body via the skin and are also inhaled as the treatment progresses.

Aromatherapy and massage are effective in combating many common ailments including: rheumatism and arthritis; headaches; asthma; stress and tension; circulation problems; insomnia; back and neck pain; digestive disorders; skin problems such as eczema; menopausal and menstrual problems and sinusitis.

Sports Injury/Trauma Massage

Sports massage is an effective and trusted form of physical therapy: It is not only beneficial for sports people, but for people seeking relief from muscle tension, and for people who have suffered an injury, as aftercare. The therapist manipulates the muscle tissues to relax any tensions and is thus enabled to work deeply into the soft tissues of the body. Using specific and specialized techniques the therapist can help prevent and bring relief from existing injuries Sport massage has been proven to be beneficial for the prevention and cure of problems including: Repetitive strain injury, Tennis elbow, Shin splints, Runners knee, Neck problems associated with Weight lifting and swimming.

Remedial Massage

Muscles, tendons and fascia can become damaged or impaired in many ways. Muscles get knotted and tense, and excessive stress can increase the pain and cause immobility. Imbalance or excessive tension in one part of the muscle/fascia continuum can cause pain and stiffness in the future. Trigger points (small areas of spasm within the muscle fibres) may develop which cause referred pain in different locations. Pulled muscles (strains) and pulled ligaments (sprain) cause damage to the surrounding soft tissue and these and other injuries can cause severe pain in muscles and joints. Remedial massage uses several specialised techniques to locate and repair damage and support and speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms. Back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, knee pain, headaches and joint pain are often caused by soft tissue injuries or disorders which are treated by Remedial massage. Injuries, weaknesses and imbalance rarely occur in isolation, and the whole pattern needs to be assessed and treated. With Remedial Massage the practitioner will trace a problem back to its causes so that there is a chance for true healing to occur (rather than just the relief of symptoms) and so that recurrence can be minimised.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage aids relaxation and is used to treat many problems including: muscular pain, injuries, tension and stiffness, back and neck problems, insomnia, headaches, tension and anxiety, arthritis. Therapeutic massage tends to focus on the problem areas and may be deeper than other massages. The massage may be a full body massage, however the session can be tailored to the areas that need most work, often the shoulders, back or legs. Therapeutic Massage involves a deeper tissue massage technique, promoting good health through: Improving muscle tone Stimulating circulation Boosting the immune system Topping up energy levels Encouraging joint flexibility Reducing stress Stimulating lymphatic drainage Massage works best as preventative health care(you don’t need to have a “specific problem” to have a massage) and the benefits are cumulative, regular massage prolongs the feelings of well -being.

Thai Traditional Massage

Thai Yoga Massage is one of the three main branches of the ancient Thai Medical system. Thai Traditional Massage has been developed and practiced for many hundreds of years f remedying illnesses and pain. It was developed on the concept of providing stimulation to the energy lines flowing through the body, called “Sen” in Thailand. Blockages or imbalances on the energy lines can cause pain and illness. Many techniques are used to apply pressure on the energy lines and channels and stretch the muscle influence to let your energy flow more freely. Thai Yoga Massage works to stimulate, open and balance the flow of energy through the “Sen” to assist the body in its natural tendency towards self healing. This is achieved through rhythmic manipulation of “Sen”, mobilization of joints; and passive stretches. Ultimately this treatment leads you to a deep relaxation. Thai Yoga Massage exemplifies the four divine states of mind described in Buddhist teachings. These are: loving kindness, compassion, vicarious joy and equanimity. Thai Yoga Massage is traditionally taught and practiced with the aim of embodying these states in action. During a good Thai Yoga Massage the receiver would experience this meditation as a state of clear, calm and vivified embodiment. Thai Yoga Massage is practiced on the floor. There is no need for the use of oil. The receiver can remain lightly clothed.
